M*m (Merle). Paw Print Genetics PMEL: mos m/M266[83]/M232[17]. Paw Print Genetics explanation-This dog carries one copy of the m (non-merle, wild-type) allele and mosaicism for two different copies of M (merle insertion variant) allele.
Rummy lives on a small homestead, ~2.5 acre with a female OTSC (previously a senior female herding mix), chickens, barn cats, and his people (including young kids). He has displayed many characteristics typical of the breed such as some herding instinct, watchdog, great with kids, biddability, and prey drive. He responds well to correction and direction. He regularly takes up position in the yard in the evenings to keep tabs on the happenings around our place. He alert barks for strangers or when unwanted furry creatures appear (e.g., coyotes). He is quick to calm and stop barking when told. He is curious, active, and very sweet with an easy temperament.

Rummy has proven to be a good property guardian. He regularly stands his ground with coyotes and is a great rodent-remover (rats, mice, voles). We have a big garden and ongoing landscaping projects. Rummy helps keep the rabbit population in check and a boon for our plants (minus the marking, haha!).
