Arch is a great farm collie. He loves to herd, but he also is a good protector, and he enjoys hunting as well. Great with children. He guards, herds, and hunts. Of the three, he is strongest in herding. He loves to move animals, and he is gentle enough to work goats and sheep. He also guards well. His bite is very gentle, and he can hand you a day old chick in his mouth and not hurt it. He does hunt, but only for his pleasure. He likes to eat what he catches. He is about 75lb to 80lbs, and he has a very generous, thick coat.

Working Dog: yes

Working Description: Arch enjoys herding animals. He often can be seen sitting out in the middle of the herd while they are grazing just watching or protecting the herd. He can pick up a one or two day old chick in his mouth and give it to you without hurting the chick. He will attack other invading dogs standing on his hind legs wrestling with them, but he has such a tender bite or mouth that he doesn't do much harm to the dog. He answers coyotes howls in the night warning them to stay away from our place. He barks at strangers and sniffs them over as them arrive, but he is not aggressive to the point of biting.(Maybe he would bite if someone tried to harm us.) He also loves to hunt squirrel, mice, rats, moles, opossum, and grasshoppers.
