First and foremost, Lorna is a very loving family dog. She enjoys shepherding and is intuitive to our needs and the sheep. Loves to fetch sticks and even brings them as offered gifts. Maternal and watchful of children especially. She will keep stock mannerly and orderly around her charges. She is reserved with strangers and generally watches and warms up. Exceedingly loyal. Lorna has run off bobcats on the edge of our property and quickly alerts us to predators near the chicken pen. She will often notice if an animal here is injured or sick and will get our attention and act as a pointer on the other side of the fence. Lorna is a vermin hunter, and she works to keep all vultures and predator birds away from the farm. She is accepting of "her" cat and even brings gifts to her. Moderate coat. Loves water, swimming, and even kayaking. Has even swam great distances to be with her family. An all around loyal and fabulous farm and family dog.
Lorna is a competent service dog here who also works chickens, sheep, and she occasionally works cows and goats. She herds and works for everyone in the family per their abilities and needs. She brings sheep into the barn, holds groups, keeps the gate, and will keep animals away while food is being administered. Lorna gathers nicely. She is a quick thinker and stays a step ahead of the stock. Mostly working sheep, generally Lorna will only use as much force as necessary. She has very sound intuition and prefers to be gentle whenever possible. A second mom to orphaned lambs and attentive to all babies. She also enjoys playing at agility with us in the yard.
