Alaine is a smart and biddable collie. She adores her people, but can be shy with strangers--she is not reactive to them, she is just overly polite and tries to move away when they come into her bubble. People she knows can do just about anything to her and she is very eager to please, no matter the environment! Alaine tailors her play well with all trypes of dogs, but still has a little puppy enthusiasm so we are careful to coach her to be gentle with small dogs, animals, and children. Alaine is good at modulating her energy level--she loves to run during play, but also will lay back and relax during down time. At home, she lets us know when something is different (like a stranger pulling into the driveway) and will come to us if one of the other collies is invading her crate, instead of initiating a tussle. She is a good peacemaker dog among our collies.

Alaine is very biddable and eager to please. We just started agility training at 1 year of age and I'm really excited for her prospects. She focuses on her handler and is easy to rev up with praise and encouragement, while at the same time still attending to directions and wanting to play with her person.
