Balfour is an energetic cuddle bug (which sounds like a contradiction, but is truly a fun combination). He is always on the lookout for a job, whether that’s guarding, herding, agility, fetch, tricks or curling up beside you for quiet time. He is a very athletic dog, but definitely has the OTSC "off switch," so he is not neurotically hyper and has never been destructive. He is very much a family-orientated dog. While family members can do anything with him, it takes a bit for him to warm up to strangers and dogs outside his family. Once he knows they're ok, he greets them eagerly, ready for pets or playtime. He has a lot of herding instinct and drive, and is very biddable with attention being his most desired reward. He is only mildly food motivated and has never been aggressive over food or toys. He is very attentive and caring towards his older rough collie "sister" and will groom her ears and readily backs down if his playing is too rambunctious for her.
