CEA carrier (one copy of the gene but not affected)
We have raised 2 litters of puppies with Marla and she had phenomenal puppies! She has been retired from breeding and was spayed in March of 2022. She was the best of mothers but it took a lot out of her. She is a wonderful companion with good herding instincts and loves to give squirrels a mighty chase. She is also an amazing vole hunter. She has a great sense of fun and loves to play with her son Showtime and her daughter Rosie.
Marla has a good interest in herding our chickens as we move them out to the chicken tractor in the morning and back to the coop at night. She is gentle with them and just nudges them with her nose when they need encouragement. She has a relaxed way of herding and does not bark while herding. She has been known to get distracted if there is a squirrel in the vicinity, as squirrel chasing is her first love! She is getting quicker with the squirrel catching. She is very gentle with cats and has a special bond with one of our clinic cats who will groom Marla. She at first is excited when meeting new people and will bark, but once allowed to greet them, she is very gentle and loving. She gets very excited when neighbor kids come to visit and she enjoys being with them. She is good on walks and runs and goes for a 2 or 4 mile distance almost every day. She is a phenomenal companion dog and has never destroyed anything in our house. She has never shown any food aggression, however if she catches a squirrel, she will not let our other dog have it!
