Above all else, Clover is committed to our "family pack." She takes her job of minding and standing watch over our children very seriously...to the point that she will come and bark and/or whine at me to let her out to the yard if she sees the kids through a window. I have also seen her be dead asleep at the foot of a child's bed, watched that child flail a leg into the air that came down on Clover's nose, startling her awake. There was no growling or snapping back, the way that many dogs naturally would--only sniffing and then readjusting her own sleep position. I have given her the highest form of praise that a dog can receive: I trust her completely with my children.

Working Description: Clover excels in property guardianship and protection. She is a natural mouser, with moderate prey drive. I am continually impressed by her herding instincts with our sheep and cattle--we plan to seek formal herding training, and to compete in trials in the upcoming years. She is truly an athlete among athletes, and will easily jump our 5ft yard fence in order to go do her work in the pasture, before coming back into the yard. Clover has had exposure to watching our neighbor's chickens briefly. She was very curious, but not aggressive. Clover's best animal friend is our tuxedo cat. They took to one another on the first night that we brought her home, and they have loved playing together ever since. We do have a senior cat that does not like dogs, and whenever Clover wants to say hello I call her off with a "leave it," and she does. Clover's favorite place is to be snuggled up in bed with me while I read, or to take a nap outside of our kids' pillow fort on movie night.
