Sire - Johnson’s Henry of Windspun, a Clear Sable English Shepherd and Appendix OTSCA. His grandsire, Betts Wilsons Yukon Gold, English Shepherd and Appendix OTSCA, holds herding championships. Paternal Grandmother – Johnson’s Gracie Ann Squier and great grandmother Johnson’s Katy-Ann Squier both hold many agility championships. These proven English Shepherds are the exact same breeding as the maternal line of my female Westernview Mata Hari, full registered OTSCA.
Dam – Thystledown Contessa a Black and White ES that is also a great granddaughter of Betts Wilsons Yukon Gold as found in the sire line for linebreeding this proven dog in both top and bottom side of the pedigree. The linebreeding of the maternal side of other proven and respected dogs like Ward’s Duchess, Hamlet Wilson and Dunn’s King plus other great dogs from the Wilson line are seen in the 5-generation pedigree added to the propensity of expected results in this unique dog.
I met both parents and was impressed with temperaments and instincts of both parents. Parents are not gritty, rough herding dogs, but help with care of baby animals, chickens, sheep, goats, and milk cows with just enough protective attitude yet easy around visitors on an Upstate NY small farm. Gentle temperament, biddable, athletic, and companions for 80+ year of mother and her neighboring daughter’s farm. No hip dysplasia in either parent.
Cowboy’s herding style and personality is similar to his parents, not rough gritty, rather calm and focused on the handler’s directions and commands. This is a good fit for my Bud Williams style low pressure livestock herding style. Very athletic body and movements, easy around guest and especially watchful and helpful companion for young children. I've seen the Yukon Gold dog plus both parents. He is developing into exactly what his pedigree predicted. Cowboy is working and residing on an agreed breeding and partnership with Leona and Danny Keown

Cowboy is attentive to his handlers, much as the small farm working English Shepherds like Yukon, Tessa, and Henry that are in his pedigree. Showed excellent cattle attention as a very young pup. Not rough gritty, rather calm and focused on the task and handler's commands. Good off button and homestead watchful companion.
