Sassy Bell was sired by our proven stud Ozark Ridge Rudolph and mother was from an outside female living in Illinois. At first, I was hesitant to use Rudy as a stud on outside females, especially non-DNA tested, until reviewing Six Pense Farm’s April Buttercup’s pedigree. Preserving and strengthening the great old fashioned farm working dogs through linebreeding 7 times to Sojourner’s Jacob on the extended 6+ generation pedigree with 2 different direct sons of Jacob – Heiland Thistle Diego and 4-J Acres Gabby bring unique combination of this through selection by different past breeders in sire and dam side. Sassy’s name came from the mother of Sojourner’s Jacob – McDuffie’s Sassy - combined with the outcross mother line of VK Wynn Mathair Bell. Bell has a unique pedigree in itself as her sire Cailean was an AKC show dog but had too much desire to work for the showring and Bonnie Bell was a TDI certified farm bred dog imported from Pleasant Bay, New Zealand and raised by an old farmer that had been breeding the same dam line for 50 years. This unique opportunity to preserve these lines overcame any hesitation to breed and by DNA testing the litter, I was able to find a carrier only for CEA – Sassy. Breeding to clear only males in the future will retain and strengthen this great line. Sassy is just as her pedigree would indicate. Beautiful traditionally marked, she is always an attention grabber to anyone who meets her. She was showing a fearless, great herding instinct on my farm her first winter, but then when moved to town as a 7-month-old pup, she has transitioned easily from farm dog to companion dog. Always has a friendly greeting for any and all people just like her mother does in Illinois. And like her sire, she has the all-round farm working ability and great companion dog instincts as proven through other multiple litters sired by Rudy. Athletic and always alert to any birds, squirrels, or rabbits that might invade my yard or our neighborhood walks.
