Edit: 9/27/20 - Zak has received his Appendix Registration, Orange papers. "Appendix papers indicating a dog who scores between 65-74% on the breed standard. While not meeting criteria for full registration, appendix dogs can be bred to fully registered OTSC. Puppies from those litters are eligible for puppy registration and can apply for full registration at age one." Zak is a registered English Shepherd, Reg # ESC-5176. He is also registered in the United Kennel Club,UKC # P908-512. Zak has excellent hunting instincts. Always alert to chase off rogue deer, rabbits, woodchucks, & squirrels in the yard, as well as intruding birds in the bushes and overhead. He does not like wondering dogs in the yard, nor cats outside (or inside) the house. He loves to chase and catch balls, frisbees and just plane run in his pen. Zak has proven himself to be an excellent discretionary guard dog. On guard with new people and dogs he meets, but not aggressive. Once he sees all is good he goes into a quiet watchful mode. He does very well with children of all ages. For an ES I find him to have a softer personality. He has yet to be tested with livestock. Zak has matured nicely into a fine young man. He is very in tune to us, biddable and eager to learn. He is intact and lives with two other intact dogs; Ziggy - an OTSC female, and Zuess -another ES male. He has had a successful litter of eight with Ziggy.
