Piper is both an incredible farm dog and farmer companion. She is incredibly sweet without being timid at all. She is what’s ready to snuggle and constantly wants attention. She has a great off-switch and a teflon coat. She is incredible with children - extremely gentle.

Working Description: Piper is an avid sky watcher and vermin eradicator. She is very alert to aerial predators and will chase anything crow-size or larger out of our pasture. She is also found frequently with a dead mouse in her mouth. Piper is an incredible herder of our cattle. She herds by barking and snapping on heels. She is incredibly agile due to her small size, and makes herding look easy. Piper also monitors the fence perimeter of our chickens to make sure they stay where they are supposed to (within the fence). She is always willing to catch and chicken with a soft mouth for us when needed. Just a quick story about Piper - one day we were pushing our 100 head herd over railroad tracks that run through our property onto new pasture. It is always on ordeal to get them all safely across, as they treat the tracks like a cattle gate. We almost had everyone over, when a small calf bolted back over a hill and down into a hollow that the cows love to hide into the woods. With help from our male, Dwight, Piper ran full speed for the calf. Next thing we knew, those two and brought up that calf from the hollow without command and herded it over the track to the rest of the herd.
