Barbara has lots of spirit and farm enthusiasm. Her personality is a lot like her mother Grant's Pearl of Great Price. She LOVES attention. One day a guest was at our farm. The visitor was petting another dog, and Barbara ran up and pushed her head under the visitors hand as if to say, "You need to pet me." Barbara likes to bark when the goats or sheep are reproducing. She seems to be saying, "Humans, mark the date on the calendar." She has lots of herding drive like her mother Pearl, and she is eager to help move the animals. She recently had her first litter of pups. She is a great mom, delivering seven pups with no issues. She is very attentive to the pups, and she makes sure each one gets his/her fair share of the milk. There is an old lassie movie where Lassie has four or five pups out on a stranded island all by herself with no help. Barbara could be that dog. She has the mother routine down, and doesn't require any help from the humans. She is a good mouse killer, and she will provide for herself by killing and eating rodents. She learns quickly, and quickly learned not to chase the chickens. Barbara had a perfect Embark panel. Embark calls her coat color "straw." Like her father Vaccaro's Tippin, she has some black shading in her coat. Like her names sake, Barbara Leininger, she is brave, resourceful, and faithful. For years, Grant's Pearl has been my favorite, female OTSC. Barbara runs her a close second.
